Rev. Rodrick K. Burton has been married since 1997 to Carlotta Cheers.  They are the parents of Zoe and Zarek.  He is the eldest son of Laura B. Burton and the late Dr. Charles Wesley Burton.  He has one brother Shawn who resides in the Detroit area.


Rev. Burton
has served as Protestant Lay Leader for Platoon #1071 at the United States Marine Recruit Depot in San Diego, California.


In 2005, Rev. Burton wrote the book “The Moral State of Black America” and spoke on the subject nationwide.


Rev. Burton
attended Covenant Theological Seminary where he earned a Master’s in Educational Ministry.  During his tenure at Covenant, he studied church planting, developed a Sunday school curriculum, “Ethics and the Black Church”. After seminary he would go on to serve as ruling Elder-Elect at New Life Presbyterian Church until 2009.


Rev. Burton
worked for Teen Challenge of St. Louis as their Director of Community Awareness,
and was instrumental in the opening of their first Women’s Center in South St. Louis City.


Rev. Burton
joined New Northside M.B. Church in April of 2010, under the leadership of the late Pastor Emeritus, Bishop W.J. Ellis, Jr.  He immediately placed himself to be at service for the Bishop.  Bishop Ellis directed him to join the roster of pulpit ministers and to work with the Youth and Young Mission.  In August of 2011, Rev. Burton was appointed Interim Pastor of New Northside M.B. Church and served in this capacity for 15 months.


On March 3, 2013, Rev. Burton was installed as Pastor of New Northside M. B. Church serving Christ by serving the church at 8645 Goodfellow Boulevard.


Rev. Burton
also serves as Director of the Berean District Social Ministry; Law & Order Chairperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Clergy Coalition; Vice President for the Ecumenical Leadership Council; and he serves as a mentor for students at Covenant Seminary.
