The New Northside Child Development Center was opened September, 1990 at 6050 Goodfellow Boulevard. It was a reality of a vision by our pastor, Bishop Willie James Ellis, Jr. Its purpose was to serve the needs of children, ages 2-5 years old. The goal of the Center was to build the children's confidence and develop their learning skills. The first director of the Center was Mrs. Lavaughn Jones.

In 1991, the Center became state licensed for 36 children and 7 staff. In November, 1997 the Church purchased the old Aldi Supermarket building for the purpose of expanding the Child Development Center and creating an environment for the total family. The building was renovated and in October, 1998, the New Northside Family Life Center opened its doors which housed the new Child Development Center. The new location allowed the Child Development Center to provide quality child care for ages 0-13 yrs. It also allowed for the expansion of its services such as providing a summer camp and before and after school care for ages 5-13 years. Presently, the Center is licensed for 150 children and employs a staff of 42. Our current director is Ms. Janice Dean who served on the planning committee of our original daycare facility.

The Child Development Center is governed by its own Board of Directors. The Board's purpose is to implement and carry out programs that will ensure that the children who attend our Center receive a quality education during their formative years.
